Packaging and shipping conditions

Standard conditions for transporting and storing caviar

When shipping caviar, it is essential to follow standard shipping and storage conditions to maintain its quality and freshness. The most important points are:

1. Health and legal conditions
Caviar must be sourced from officially licensed fish farms.
It is mandatory to comply with the regulations of the Iranian Veterinary and Fisheries Organization regarding caviar production centers and cold stores.
For export, a CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species) certificate is required.

 

2. Suitable transportation temperature
Caviar should be stored at a temperature between minus four and zero degrees Celsius.
To transport it, dry ice, double-layer unolith coolboxes, bubble wrap, and other specialized packaging tools are used.

 

3. Standard packaging
Caviar is usually offered in glass containers or vacuum-sealed metal cans.
The lid of the container must be tightly closed to prevent air from entering and spoiling the caviar.
Using dry ice or cooling gel is essential to maintain temperature.
Information such as production date, expiration date, type and category of caviar, veterinary health code, international processing center code, and country of origin (in cases of export) must be included on the packaging.

 

4. Transfer duration
The sooner the caviar is transferred to the refrigerator at the appropriate temperature, the better.
The maximum recommended time for intracity deliveries is one hour.
A maximum of 24 hours is recommended for intercity shipments and a maximum of 4 days for exports.

 

5. Storage conditions in the refrigerator
Caviar should be stored in the cold part of the refrigerator (near the freezer or on the lowest shelf).
Avoid freezing it, as freezing changes the texture and flavor of the caviar.
After opening the package, consume within 2 to 5 days.
